Former NBA legend Dennis Rodman was involved in a car crash in Florida at the weekend. His SUV flipped over on an interstate near Fort Lauderdale but Dennis thankfully managed to 'Worm' his way out and walk away unharmed. Sgt. Mark Wysocky of The Florida Highway Patrol said that the Land Rover flipped over due to a tire problem and the driver was taken to hospital, (Get Well Soon!) while Rodman and another passenger where unharmed. Rodman's agent Darren Price reported that the only injury 'The Worm' suffered was a little scratch on his finger. Price also revealed what Rod told him after the accident and it's another Rodman classic quote for the ages,
"I'm still living brother, they can't get rid of me"
Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo has more to worry about after his comments about Chris Bosh. For one Chris fired back, with most people on his side and now Colangelo's job may be under threat. Times where a lot better when Colangelo took the helm and reinvigorated this franchise but as of today the organisation seems in disarray. To add insult to injury former Rap's forward Hedo Turkoglu has some comments himself about Colangelo, Bosh and the Raptors organisation, "People have to realize something is wrong with that organization and nobody wants to go there any more," need he say anymore? The new Phoenix Sun Hedo is also not impressed with the way "people will talk behind your back," he believes Chris Bosh isn't the type of player to quit on his teammates and Bryan should have addressed Bosh personally before going to the media. Looks like maybe the only one quitting on the Raptor's is it's GM. With players like Bosh, Turkoglu and others such as Calderon and Bargani Canada's only NBA team really had something but now all that's left seems to be bitterness in the air.Way back in 2006 they surprised everyone and in one season became a strong contender in the East. Now in one summer however they could be setting themselves up to stare at Lottery balls come next year!
One man who doesn't want to keep things bitter with his former team in this ongoing Miami Heat free-agent drama is former Cavs centre Zydrunas Ilgauskas. He may have followed LeBron James (the new Public Enemy number one in Cleveland) to Miami in search for a ring but he has taken the time to thank the Cavs fans for their support. Zydrunas has taken out an ad in the Cleveland paper the Plain Dealer. He also states that Cleveland is his home but asks for fans understanding in his pursuit for a ring. Z states in the ad that he's "Never felt as proud as when I've pulled on the wine and gold" Hopefully Z's heartfelt statements will ease some of the disappointment the fans have been through this summer. Now will LeBron buy out the whole paper for a statement to the fans?
After shooting some hoops in the White House on Sunday morning hoop aficionado President Obama took in a Washington Mystics WNBA game in the afternoon. He took in the game with his daughter Sasha and her friend. His seats, courtside of course would you expect anything else? Sasha and her friend where decked in Mystics jerseys as Washington's team took on the Tulsa shock. Obama wore all black, similar to the attire he wore at when his hometown Bulls lost to the Wizards in a game he took in last season at the MCI Centre. Barack Obama is clearly one of the biggest, coolest celebrity fans basketball has (Sorry Jack, you too!). The crowd loved Obama's appearance roaring in approval and to make things better the Mystics shot there way to a 87-62 win....'Wap'!
In other WNBA news for the second consecutive week the New York Liberty's Cappie Pondexter and the Phoenix Mercurys Diana Taurasi where named the Eastern and Western conference players of the week respectively. These WNBA legends are still going strong and waving the flag for this incredible league after Lisa Leslie's retirement.Don't sleep.
