THROUGH THE WIRE: NEWS (09/06/10)

This years USA national Basketball team may not be the 'Dream Team' or even 'The Redeem Team' but today they redeemed themselves in the eys of their biggest critics as they gave Angola a nightmare whupping them 121-66 in the FIBA quarter finals. The US went from lackluster performances to a stat buster of a game. The USA's veteran and their poster boy led the team, as Chauncey Billups scored 19 points and Kevin Durant notched 17 under his belt. Gordon and Gay also chipped in 17 to fry Angola. This win was reminiscent of the blowouts the 1992 Dream Team used to inflict on international competition (Including another drubbing of Angola to the tune of 116-48)and the USA showed 'World Hoops' that the game is still very much theirs. The USA where incredible on D as Angola kept turning over like they where an apple pastry. USA also shot 18 for 38 from behind the arc proving that whether it was NBA regulation or not a made 3 was still a made 3 for the U.S. Valparaiso's Joaquim Gomes paced everyone scoring 21 Points for Angola who still but up a valiant effort against the nation that are now looking to become king of the world.



No stranger to controversy himself former 'Bad Boy' Isiah Thomas is getting his Budini on and getting in the corner of another Basketball legend who is amidst mixed feelings, LeBron James. Thomas spoke to the NY POST and it appears he feels that 'Bron should have opted for a slice of the Big Apple by taking a big cut from the Knicks (not his words as such). With that being said however Isiah stands next to James 'heated' decision. Thomas "strongly" believes fellow Hall of Famers and one-time opponents Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan are wrong to condemn LeBron's decision to unite with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. It's nice of Isiah to back 'Bron but doesn't he realise the two MJ's aren't the only ones with something to say about LBJ. The love/hate for LeBron is as divided as a maths exam missing the multipication pages. Still King James will be happy someone has spoke out to defend is throne. He would probably have preferred it however to be someone who hasn't been recently disgraced themselves.
