THROUGH THE WIRE: NEWS (09/29/10)

Carmelo Anthony aint going nowhere! Well...for now that is. The production of the blockbuster trade between Denver and New Jersey has been cut. Denver seemed miles away from pulling the trigger on the move so New Jersey opted to take the deal off the table. While that infamous $65 mill extension from Denver remains collecting coffee rings. This seemed a done deal last week but after some stalling the Jersey boys were right to shore this deal. The Nets decided to concentrate on what they had which will make them more cohesive going into the season. Denver on the other hand now face the continuing, inconsistent uncertainty until something is signed. This wont make for great basketball in the mile high.



The NBA Rookie Of The Year runner up Stephen Curry does not come second in Golden States eyes. The Warriors have exercised their third-year contract option on this rising star for the 2011-12 campaign. The 7th pick in the Draft last year averaged a golden 17.5 points, 5.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.90 steals. This summers gold medalist still has a team option on his fourth year but its looking like the team are wanting Steph to stick around for some time. Good news for a team that just parted ways with Don Nelson. Now GSW just hope that Monta Ellis can get on the same page with this Sophomore sensation.



Dwight Howard's career has mirrored his idol Shaquille O'Neal's. He's an entertaining, happy go lucky big man. He dunks with his knees up. He's spearheading the strongest Orlando Magic team in years and he relishes the Superman tag. The only differences these guys seemed to have is on the court because now Dwight is even releasing an album. He joins Shaq, Kobe, Iverson, Ron Artest, Tony Parker and many more on store shelves. His debut CD is called 'Shoot For The Stars'. On the CD the history making stadium rim rocker will sing classic hits and arena anthems, 'Living On a Prayer' anyone? Dwight isn't doing this without some teammates however as he has talented kids singing backup vocals. The proceeds of Howard's foray into music will go to proceeds will go to benefit the BETA Center. BETA is an organisation that helps to provide children and parents with knowledge and support to help them build a strong family foundation. Sounds good to me. TIM DAVID HARVEY
