THROUGH THE WIRE: FRIDAY (12/03/10)
24. The king has returned. Last night 20,000 emotionally strong Cleveland Cavalier fans were on hand and voice to denounce LeBron James' throne as the departed star took his Miami Heat on the road to face his old home team. LeBron may have just been a little motivated with negative reinforcement as he led his team to a 118-90 blowout win with 38 points. Still 'Bron insisted that, "It's a basketball game," like any other stressing that it wasn't personal. LeBron added "I don't hold any grudges," but I don't think it's his grudges that everyone was worried about. The Quickens Loans faithful booed everytime LeBron was on the ball or the jumbo tron (that jersey retirement ceremony is going to be great, hey?) and many wore mocking t-shirts saying phrases like "Quitness" and "Play Like It's Game Five". Several fans also spelt out the phrase 'LeBum' on their t-shirts. Still the king silenced the anger with an emotional win for a team that needs to rebound after being excused of showing no heart to begin this season. The rest of LeBron's superfriends had a hand in the win Dwyane Wade has 22 and Chris Bosh added 15. For the Cavs Daniel Gibson notched 21 but LeBron had 10 more points himself than the entire Cleveland starting lineup. Still ever the genuine professional James in his parting words had nothing but love for the hate filled crowd, "I have nothing bad to say about these fans at all. We grew from the year before I got here, a 17-win season to the last two years I was here, we had the best team in the league in the regular season. I understand their frustration. I was frustrated also because we didn't accomplish what we wanted to. I wish this organization and these fans, who are great, the best."
48. Speaking of people at LeBron there seemed to be a problem between Nike athletes from one legendary former number 23 to another. Still the G.O.A.T and Charlotte Bobcats G.M Michael Jordan insists that a viral video making the rounds that mocks LeBron James has nothing to do with him. The video that's hit the net takes the Michael out of LeBron's "What should I do?" commercial ending with a like Mike voice over saying "Maybe you're just making excuses." M.J. knew nothing about the vid until one of his kids sent it to him. After that Jordan was urged to tell the press, "I had absolutely nothing to do with it, Nike had absolutely nothing to do with it." Michael may have had some choice comments for LeBron after he joined forces with Wade and Bosh this Summer in Miami but still this video is fake. Besides after their tasteless Tiger Woods commercial this year I think Nike are done with the controversial ads.
82. The Milwaukee Bucks seem to be acting like a torn lover who made the wrong choice going back on their decisions waiving one player they kept and re-signing one they let go of just this summer. Confused are we? The buck stopped for rookie guard Darington Hobson as the number 37 pick was released after season ending hip surgery in October. So as one player leaves the revolving door another enters. Brian Skinner, a dependable, 12 year vet inked a contract with Milwaukee after being waived by the same team on October 12th. Skinners solid career averages of 4.8 points and 4.7 rebounds should help supplement Milwaukee's frontcourt depth problems.
O.T. Found in translation. With having a Russian owner it only seems right that the New Jersey Nets are making their website available in Russian as well...Monta Ellis may have had 38 but it was his Golden State Warriors who were burned by the Phoenix Suns. These Warriors are looking battle weary...LeBron James and his Miami Heat had some trouble in Ohio before even landing in Cleveland as their plane had a 'flap issue' but still they thankfully landed safely. Now it's time for the team to deal with that other flapping issue...following yesterdays 'Through The Wire' Joe Johnson has had surgery on his right elbow...while Pau Gasol has also picked up on an injury, straining his right hamstring. He is listed as day to day for L.A. For more news on this and more 'Lakers Latest' news on the defending champions check out our sister site 'Lake Show View' (lakeshowview.blogspot.com).
