The departure of LeBron James rocked Cleveland for sure. Many former lovers of the King are now denouncing his throne with hate. James signing with Miami almost went South for Mo Williams too. The guard almost said 'no mo' to Basketball after the team he signed with was essentially broken up. Mo Williams has been reported by Yahoo as saying that he was so depressed by LeBron's departure that he almost retired from Basketball altogether. Now were all glad 'almost' was the appropriate phrase as it's guys like Mo Williams that make the league that much better. Mo stated that his loss of love came with the game, let's hope his play isn't too effected next season as the Cavs need him now more than ever. I guess with his reported depression and stress it seems that LeBron's leaving stirred up all sorts of feelings in Ohio. Tomorrow is another season however, lets see how it all plays out.
The Hornets roster is coming into shape more this season as they have come to agreements with free-agents Joe Alexander and Pops Mensah-Bonsu. Alexander has locked up his spot, while New Orleans expect Mensah-Bonsu to be a part of the Training Camp roster. Joe Alexander was a top ten draft pick (a Yoko Ono number 8 to be specific) in 2008 out of West Virginia. He played for the Milwaukee Bucks but then this year played with the D-League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants and then the Chicago Bulls. Talented forward Mensah-Bonsu has size and athleticism and is a journeyman of this league despite only ever playing 54 NBA games. Pops has brought home the bacon for the Dallas Mavericks, the Toronto Raptors, the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets. The British player has also spent time playing overseas. These are two good pickups for NO who seem to consistently get younger and more talented each year.
It appears that the Sacramento Kings are losing some of their royalties so to speak. The legendary Arco Arena where they play will soon be just left as well...'The Arena' we guess. The oil company Arco have been with the Californian kings and the legendary arena for a quarter of a century but now they can not mine in Sacramento any longer. In these tough economic times for the cellar dwelling, former powerhouse Sacto it will prove hard for them to find a replacement sponsor. The two parties do have one more season left together before this 25 year reign ends however. It will be a shame that this legendary arena will now lose its synonymous name but never fear the cowbells will still ring for the kings. Perhaps the 'More Cowbell Arena' could be a adequate new name.
