THROUGH THE WIRE: NEWS (10/11/10)
Denver Nuggets recent power move, forward signing Al Harrington will be out for around a fortnight. An MRI confirmed that the versatile talent partially tore the plantar fascia in his left foot during his first Nuggets game, a preseason clash against other Western powerhouse Potland Trail Blazers in which the Nuggets blazed Portland 109-99. It was hoped that Harrington would spell Kenyon Martin at the power forward position while the emphatic Martin recovers from knee injury but now that Al has re-injured his foot there is a gap at the position. Still however Denver don't fall apart like a bad omelet when it comes to depth they have energetic forward Renaldo Balkman, and raw talent, Mr. Candace Parker, Sheldon Williams. Also so long as Chris Anderson hasn't injured his neck with that tattoo, the forward/centre can swing between the two positions.
Good news now. The Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is in good health and has been released from hospital after collapsing at practice on Friday. Although Carlisle didn't man the helm for the Mavs in Saturday's outdoor exhibition game in California against Phoenix, however team president Donnie Nelson believes that Rick will be back for Dallas' preseason game today. Perhaps Carlisle was just overworked and stressed or maybe he just looked too much at Dirks defence. Either way, great to have you back coach, wishing you all good health.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we have with this subject before. With that being said however it all seems to be going 'Family Guy' for Allen Iverson as the bird is the word. After some Lil' Wayne and Eminem, 'No Love' treatment from the NBA and some Far Eastern promises that went awry it seems now that A.I. may find answers in Turkey. Turkish side Besiktas Cola Turka have apparently offered Allen a deal according to Turkish magazine Basket. The contract however is still being negotiated like Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. Right now the offer Cola Turka have left on the Carmelo Anthony table is $1.5-2 million which also includes large bonuses and a percentage from the revenues from advertising. Iverson as usual however is not without his demands, he wants luxury car (who wouldn't, note the word 'luxury'), a villa (there nice in Turkey, I don't blame you), and to be payed every week , instead of every month (ok I understand this, if your working a minimum wage job). All joking aside it's crazy that no other team wants him but it seems like any team willing to make Iverson an offer have a look in. Speaking of which hey Al, I got a Sunday league team that could need some help off the bench. You in? TIM DAVID HARVEY
