24. George Karl is having a great season back on the bench for the Denver Nuggets. Still last night the Charlotte Bobcats halted the coach from achieving his 1,000Th NBA career win. The 'cats won 100-98 behind Stephen Jackson's 23 points. Denver almost mined a comeback for their coach however. With 90 to play the Nuggets tried to overcome a eight point deficit but Chauncey Billups missed a potential overtime producing three pointer after Stephen Jackson could not connect from downtown for Charlotte. Chauncey still put up a decent effort with 25, while Carmelo Anthony had 22 points. Coach Karl who has overcome a lot over the last year looks to celebrate big in Boston. As his team looks for an upset and a ceremonial win for their next game.
48. Speaking of Charlotte their is more news from the nest of their former Hornets franchise. Following Monday's 'Through The Wire' news about the whole club being on the trading block, sports attorney Jac Sperling's new role is to help the New Orleans Hornets look more appealing to a potential buyer as a definite takeover hangs over the franchises future. The vice chairman of the NHL's Minnesota Wild is familiar to N.O. He's from there, born and raised and now selling a basketball team is how he's going to spend most of his days. Sperling was appointed by NBA Commissioner David Stern and he recognises the task at hand, "We're in a difficult spot, yes, but I think his selection of me is a further indication of what is in his mind. He wants to try to make this asset more attractive so perhaps a local buyer will step up." The attorney is is no rush to offload the team however as he looks to improve how the club looks improving ticket sales and sponsorship. He added "What we want to do is have people come to the arena, have a great time, have a winning product on the court and have a business model that works." Looks like the Hornets have found their perfect mascot. Now it's time to re-establish a buzz.
82. The Los Angeles Lakers are looking like their back to their old selves and Andrew Bynum isn't even back yet. After losing four games last week they've now won two this one. The Lakers topped the Wizards 115-108 at home. The Wizards three trick point guard pony of John Wall, Gilbert Arenas and Nick Young was not enough for the Lakers horsepower. John Wall was twice nice with 22 points and 14 assists but still that wasn't enough for the great play of Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom for the Lakers. As it was the Lake Show who also doubled up for a blowout lead spurred on by the combined 35 points from Kobe who had 18 and Odom who had 17. Bryant finished off the Wiz with 32 points while Lamar added a 24 point insult to Washington's injury. It felt like 2006 again with this Jordan, Pippen like combo complimenting each other. The D.C team still had a chance cutting a deficit of 19 to 3 in the third behind the excellent play of their two rookie points but then the young guys hit the wall. The experienced, champion Lakers just had too much in the way. Now who's got next?

O.T.: Allan Houston has been named the new New York Knicks Assistant G.M. Word is that once Donnie Walsh steps down the former Knick sharpshooter could be the successor. Let's hope this time he goes easy on the contracts...after getting flagrant with rookie Blake Griffin, Andre Miller has branded the NBA 'soft' after a one game suspension. I think Miller time should expect some more penalties for that...more good news for the Lakers and more generosity from their star Ron Artest. The defensive maestro's continued positive concern about mental health has resulted in the star pledging half his $6.79 mill salary this year. WHAT A GUY!...here's some news that isn't new. The NBA Players union and the leagues still haven't moved on their negotiations. So, about that lockout?...Shaq wants to win a championship with the Celtics this year but next, he may follow Allen Iverson to Turkey...speaking of fresh starts former NBA All-Star Antonie Walker is making a comeback in the D-League with the Idaho Stampede.
