Just how do you beat talents like Brandon Jennings and Steph Curry to the Rookie Of The Year award? You play just like sophomore star Tyreke Evans. 'Reke took the ROY from this years O.J. Mayo and Michael Beasley and deservedly so. Sure playing the colder part of California meant that Evans exposure wasn't as specific as other Pacific stars but this Sacramento King proved in his first season that he belonged with the NBA royals. Shades of Oscar Robertson and Mitch Richmond, Tyreke bloomed in the shadows of a former standout Sacto team. A team so willing to give the crown to this player that they where prepared to ship sharp scorer, Kevin Martin to the Houston Rockets. Without all this as a rook 'Reke averaged at least twenty points, five assists and five rebounds per game. This is only the fourth time in league history that this has been done. Who else did it? The aforementioned Big O and two guys you may be familiar with. One of them is called LeBron and the other something like Mike. What more can you say? TIM DAVID HARVEY.
